For many of us whose voices aren't heard and are oppressed at home, college and workplaces, psychotherapy/counseling can be a safe space if the psychotherapist/counselor is sensitive and affirmative to the diverse experiences rather than seeing the the process as apolitical.
Image Description: The image is on a white background, titled 'Reimagining Counseling and Psychotherapy in India.' It represents a psychotherapy room with two chairs with a center table, and a rug. It has square windows with curtains. There is a floor lamp and a small plant pot next to the chair on the right and a snake plant next to the chair on the left side of the room. All of these are in black and white. Above this are assorted images of an inclusive pride flag, a Wi-Fi symbol, a financial graph, a feminist symbol in pink, a watermelon, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, disability pride flag, and an unequal weighing scale with people held by a blue hand. At the bottom of the page, there is text that reads, 'An aesthetic therapy space may not be of much use if the psychotherapy approach is not social-justice informed.'
